RAKHI ........Ichee Rakshana

He’s not down and neither is he out. He’s coming on 22nd December. NTR will be fighting against dowry and the film is definitely going to strike a chord with the audiences. Along with him is Krishna Vamsi who will be proving a point. “We shall not take any dowry at our sons’ weddings, neither shall we give any dowry at our daughters’ weddings.” This should be the catch phrase once the film strikes at the theatres.

Although the use of a dowry - money or property brought by a bride to her husband at marriage - was banned in Bangladesh with the Anti-Dowry Prohibition Act of 1980, enforcement, especially in the country’s rural areas, has been lax, and so the practice continues. One hopes that something of this sort too comes into force very strictly in Andhra too. The catch-22, is that while payment of a dowry is a significant financial burden for most families - most find the cycle difficult to break because the inability to pay can affect a young girl’s chance of marriage, or if she gets married, her treatment within the husband’s family. In this a tv anchor plays NTR’s sister. Ravi Verma is the brother-in-law. There is ofcourse the beautiful Charmme and the lissome Ileana driving moviebuffs nuts.
